Our Sanctuary

Gail’s Pets Second Chance, a 501(c)(3) organization, exists solely to provide a haven for abandoned, unwanted, or abused pets while they await forever homes.
From the hands-on interaction provided by our all-volunteer crew, to the medical services rendered by our veterinarian and his staff, our goal is to provide compassionate care to these animals in need.
Our sanctuary is located in Oakland, Arkansas, in the Ozark Mountains on the shores of beautiful Bull Shoals Lake in the heart of the Ozarks. By auto, we are approximately two hours from Springfield, Missouri, and just over four hours from Little Rock and St. Louis.
Please make sure to call 431-8229 and arrange a time with Gail BEFORE you drive out. We only show dogs by a pre-arranged appointment time. We would hate for you to drive out and not have anyone around to show you the dogs. Thank you.
If you wish to surrender a dog you MUST complete a Surrender Form - found three tabs to the right. We will check to see if we can accommodate the dog or put the dog on our waiting list. DO NOT drive to the rescue with a dog you have found or wish to surrender. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Directions to the shelter:
From the North (Missouri) - Take Route 5 south into Arkansas. Turn right onto Route 202, also known as Oakland Road. Continue on Oakland Road for 6 miles. Turn left onto MC118 and drive approximately 100'. Stay on this gravel road for the entire 1-1/4 miles. You will end up at the shelter!
